“Hollis Hails Toyota’s Choice of Sato as New North American CEO”

Jack Hollis, the head of sales for Toyota Motor North America, spoke at the J.D. Power Auto Summit in Dallas and discussed the company’s newly named CEO, Koji Sato. Sato has been coming to the U.S. to study the market for over 10 years and is passionate about the North American franchised dealer model and the product itself. Hollis also defended Toyota’s cautious approach to battery electric vehicles and their carbon reduction strategy, which relies on hybrid and plug-in hybrid drivetrains. He argued that carbon reductions are more effective when more consumers contribute, as building one $65,000 EV is not as effective as building seven $48,000 plug-in hybrids or 109 $30,000 Priuses. This approach allows more people to benefit from the carbon reduction.
