US News: A 20-year-old college rower passed away Wednesday morning after a van driving the team to practice crashed, hurting several others.
Eight staff member were in the van taking a trip to practice at the Vero Beach Rowing Club when a pickup hit their van, authorities stated.
Some team members are in stable but severe condition, while others have been launched from the health center, stated Vero Beach Cops Chief David Currey.
Vero Beach Rowing Club Director Brian Colgan stated the team is in town for a mid-winter training camp.
A 20-year-old lady passed away at the scene, police stated at an interview Wednesday. Her name has not been announced.
Several women were taken by helicopters to surrounding healthcare facilities, while the drivers of both lorries were taken by ambulance to Cleveland Clinic Indian River Hospital.
The crash occurred around 7:30 a.m
. In a declaration, Holy Cross, based in Worcester, Massachusetts, said, “This morning, members of the Holy Cross women’s rowing team were involved in a major crash while taking a trip in Florida.
