Peruvian authorities arrested the country’s president, Pedro Castillo, hours after announcing his impeachment, in rapid development in the South American country.

Activists and bloggers have posted videos about social media documenting the moment in which Castillo was arrested.
And the police announced on their official Twitter account that the security forces had arrested President Pedro Castillo and called him the former president.

Peru’s parliament, dominated by the right-wing opposition, on Wednesday announced the impeachment of leftist President Pedro Castillo on charges of “moral incompetence”, ignoring the president’s decision to dissolve parliament hours earlier.
And 101 out of 130 deputies decided to isolate the president in a broadcast session in live on television, despite Castillo’s declaration on the dissolution of Parliament and the state of emergency in the country.
Pedro Castillo survived in preceded by two other impeachment motions, the last of which was in March 2022.

At the time, the opposition accused him of meddling in a case of corruption involving his close collaborators and of “betrayal” after announcing his willingness to hold a referendum on granting access to the Pacific Ocean to neighboring Bolivia, which does not neglect the sea.
He also held him responsible for repeating ministerial crises and forming four governments in 8 months, which is unprecedented in the country.
