How long is Klay Thompson out? Injury timeline, return date, latest Warriors star updates

The Golden State will not have at least one “Splash Brother” for some time.

Thief Warrior Klay Thompson will miss a significant part of the 2019-20 season after the first major injury of his career. Thompson was the NBA’s “Iron Man” before tearing his ACL left in the 2019 NBA Finals, playing in at least 73 regular season games in each of his last five seasons.

With Thompson out and Kevin Durant in Brooklyn, Golden State coach Steve Kerr will rely on Stephen Curry (whenever he recovers from injury), Draymond Green and young D’Angelo Russell to guide the Warriors through brutality Western Conference. Thompson is likely to be able to return to the top five in 2020, but Golden State will not rush Thompson back after criticizing the organization following Durant’s Aigel injury.

What’s the next step for the Warriors shooter? Here is all we know about Thompson’s injury and the latest news on when he may return to court.

How long will Klay Thompson come out?

After undergoing surgery in July to repair his ACL, Thompson will be out until at least the 2020 All-Star break. Golden State basketball business president Bob Myers said he does not mean the Warriors are waiting to play immediately after the break . The team will only provide an update on Thompson’s situation at that time.

In an interview with NBC Sports Bay Area, Kerr pointed out that Thompson would have to go through a perfect recovery process to be able to see the floor this season.

“You have to see it realistically,” Kerr said. “I had an ACL (tear) in college, and I missed an entire season. Overall, an ACL for a basketball player is a complete rebound year, and if it’s a full year for Klay, that puts them out for the season.”

Klay Thompson Injury Schedule

It was another classic Game 6 performance by Thompson. The triple NBA champion had an effective 28 points (8-of-12 from the field, 4-of-6 from 3-point range) within nearly three quarters with the Warriors facing Raptors exclusion.

Then, in a quick break with just two minutes left in the third, Thompson crashed to the floor after a dunk attempt and immediately reached for his left knee. He helped him back into the closet, but then returned to the free throw line for 29th and 30th degrees. The Warriors committed a foul to stop the clock and the alleged Thompson from playing.

Thompson was later diagnosed with a torn ACL, but initially thought he would not sit for more than a few minutes.

“I knew I was doing something, but I never had the severity of an ACL injury or an injury that is bad,” Thompson told ESPN’s Cari Champion. “So I, personally, didn’t think it was that bad at first. My adrenaline was so high that it was Game 6, whatever I thought I had broken my knee, that’s all I thought about.

“But when I got back to the closet, I was very bloated, I didn’t feel right. It’s not just a good feeling when you’re feeling helpless and the team is out there competing.”

Despite the injury, the Warriors rewarded Thompson in this off-season past with a five-year, $ 190 million contract. Thompson will be cautious in his recovery because he wants to play for another decade.

“I’ve heard different opinions about it, especially medically, I don’t want to rush it because I want to play until I’m 38, 39, 40 years old,” Thompson said. “That’s my plan, especially because I can shoot the ball, I would love to see the floor this season, I don’t know when.”
