TV presenter Iain Lee, 47, has spoken out about the abuse he claims to have suffered throughout his childhood, which heartbreakingly started at just the age of eight. The broadcaster appeared on The Paul Chowdhry PudCast and explained how the abuse affected his relationships while revealing that it took a therapist to help him understand what he had been though.
I felt a lot of shame around that
The stand-up comedian shockingly revealed that the abuse started when he was part of the Cub Scouts.
He went on to explain how the abuse continued into his teenage years.
“I’d started acting out with older men at the age of about 14 and, for a long time, I felt a lot of shame around that,” he said.
Before continuing to speak out about the abuse he suffered, the star confessed to comedian Paul Chowdhry: “I’ve never really talked about this.”

Iain explained that the abuse he suffered “confused” his relationships with older men.
He said: “I was very confused about what a young boy… how they are supposed to get affection from older men.
“For me, it was going in public toilets at the age of 14 and I did that with older men,” he added.
The writer revealed that he carried “shame” about the incidents with him until a therapist made him see the situation clearly.

“For a long time, I felt a lot of shame around that until [my therapist] said, ‘you know that’s abuse,'” he said.
“I said, ‘no, no, no, no, it’s not abuse because I went there. It can’t be abuse because I went there’.”
“And he said ‘you were 14’…And it dawned on me, it was abuse, you know, finally after years – I got it,” he explained.
The star, who hosted The 11 O’Clock Show for two years with comedian Ricky Gervais and actor Sacha Baron Cohen also told the podcast host of the bitterness he felt towards the stars as their careers soared and his “took a nosedive”.

The former radio presenter said that he took drugs before landing the 11 O’Clock job in 1998, but his habit worsened when he started “earning thousands of pounds a week”.
Two years ago, the former TalkRadio presenter took to social media to address his sexuality live on air, saying he felt “embarrassed and ashamed”.
The former I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here! contestant took to Twitter to share his “biggest secret”, as he thanked his fans for their messages of support.
In view of his Twitter followers, he wrote: “I shared my biggest secret on air tonight.
“The one thing that I think is chiefly responsible for my depression and addictions. Thanks for listening and not judging.”
Iain later posted a follow-up where he admitted he was tempted to delete his post on being bisexual.
“This week I kind of came out on air as bi and the support has been nuts. So like thanks,” he wrote.
The star continued: “I’ll probably delete this tweet as I still feel embarrassed and ashamed and weird but I’m working on it.”
