India v England, 1st ODI: Emotionally Krunal Pandya is crying on TV after making fifty on debut

Commentator Murali Kartik asked Krunal about his feelings, but the Baroda all-rounder couldn’t answer the question when he collapsed in front of the camera. The reason: Krunal’s father, also from Hardik, recently passed away. “This one is for my father. I was very emotional when I got my hat.” It was all he could do before collapsing.

Kartik patiently waited for Krunal to gather his emotions, but he couldn’t and the former left-arm crank in India told him they will return to him at a later date. The Pandya’s father passed away in January and Krunal had to get out of Baroda’s bio-safe bubble to be with his family during the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy.

Krunal made a shiny fifty, 31-ball 58 with seven fours and two sixes, and shared a 112-run partnership with KL Rahul (62 of 43 balls with four fours and the same number of sixes). Previously, an emotional krunal had received his India cap from his younger brother Hardik.

Former Indian batsman VVS Laxman, who is now a commentator, also praised Krunal for staying cool on an emotionally charged day, saying his father was very proud of the all-rounder. The feeling has been borne out by other commentators such as Sunil Gavaskar and Graeme Swann.
