Benjamin had to wait until he was 27 years old before getting into the county game. He impressed Staffordshire and at the club level before Warwickshire took him on and made his championship debut in 1988. His brisk pace and ability to swing the ball away from right-handed people was noticed by Surrey despite limited options at Edgbaston, and he joined the Oval’s staff in 1992 and quickly established himself as a regular member of the County Championship.

The T20I series will also be great preparation for both sides as the ICC T20 World Championship is slated to take place later this year.
