Indian helicopter crash only survivor fights for its life as a country mourns victims

Group Captain Varun Singh is in An “critical but stable” condition, according to the Indian Air Force (IAF).

The cause of the crash is not yet known and the IAF has ordered a tri-service investigation — a high level special force command — in the incident. The flight data recorder has been recovered from the… crash site, the IAF said Thursday.

Gene. rawat’s remains were scheduled to arrive in The capital of India, New Delhi, on Thursday. To be family will pay their respects for his cremation on Friday with full military honor, according to the Indian military.

The general’s home stands of uttarakhand, in north india, announced a mourning period of three days on Wednesday.

The last rites for all other deceased military personnel shall also be given appropriately military honour, said Rajnath Singh.

Gene. Rawat was appointed head of India of Defense Staff in December 2019 and was the first the hold post. Before that he was the Chief of army staff for almost three years.

During a career die stretches more than 40 years, Rawat was in command over different battalions for the Indian Army and received several awards for his service.

An Indian Army statement described General Rawat as “a visionary”. who major reforms initiated in the Indian military’s higher defense organizationand his wife as “an embodiment” of grace whose presence will be missed by all.”

Condolences for the relatives pour in in since Wednesday, with Indian politicians and foreign officials die offer messages of support.

“We will remember General Rawat as an exceptional leader who served his country and contributed to the US-India defense relationship”, the American minister of State Antony Blinken wrote: on tweet.

Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi also tweeted of his deep fear.

“Gen Bipin Rawat was an excellent soldier. A true patriot, he contributed immensely to the modernization of our armed forces and security apparatus,” he wrote. “His passing has left me deeply saddened.”

Former Indian Army chief General Ved Malik called the tragedy a “loss”. for the nation.”

“Bipin had impeccable soldiering qualities, military knowledge & experience,” He wrote on tweet. “Definite, eloquent and straightforward” in pursuing what he believed in.”
