Inflation in the US surprised the markets

The US Department of Labor reported today, Thursday, that US annual inflation in October 2022 slowed to 7.7% from 8.2% in the previous month (September 2022).

On a monthly basis, the US consumer price index rose 0.4%, the same as in September.

Analysts in a survey conducted by the DailyFX portal expected the annual rate to slow to 8% and prices to rise by 0.6% in October 2022. That is, inflation in October last year recorded a value below the expectations of experts and analysts.
