Instagram said Wednesday it is releasing a way for users a translate text in Stories, a feature which allows people post content that vanishes in 24 hours.
The introduction of translations in Stories shows that Facebook-owned Instagram continues to do so double down on content that disappears. The stories are already a popular format on Instagram, and introducing translations is translation one way the social network could broaden the reach of the feature.
Instagram said users around the world will be able to do this translate text in more over 90 languages, including Arabic, Hindi, Japanese and Portuguese. Translations will be available for text but not for Audio. Support for some languages might also vary depending on on the operating system Used.
To take advantage of the new feature, Instagram users click on a See the banner translation in the upper part left-but no corner of a story if they don’t understand a language. When users click on the banner, the words are translated into theirs native language.
