iPhone 13 camera: The specifications and features rumors say we’ll see

The iPhone 12 Pro Max very impressed us with his camera quality, being in able to take professional-standard photos with its slower configuration. His superb night mode is great as well as that of Apple new ProRaw image format that allows professional shooters more flexibility for edit images in apps like Adobe Lightroom. Even the cheapest base iPhone 12 can make beautiful photos and shows Apple’s commitment to delivering excellent imaging capabilities as a whole range. So what can we expect from the cameras? on Apples next Phone, the iPhone 13?

Improved wide angle

The biggest voice in this moment is an improvement to the super wide angle lens. At the moment the opening of the super wide on the iPhone 12 is f2.4, but a report seen by MacRumors suggests that the aperture will be f1.8 on the next model. The smaller the opening number, the more light the target leaves in, resulting in more beautiful pictures, in particular in Bass light. The report also suggests that this update will be common on all iPhone 13 models, not just the more expensive Professional line.

Night mode is already superb on the iPhone 12 with his regular slow, but like us found out in our test against the Galaxy S21 Ultra and Pixel 5, the iPhone 12 Pro Max does not do well to take super- wide night shots. Hopefully this push lets you keep that wide angle lens pace with the others.

12 Pro Max specs on cheaper phones

The above relationship also suggested that some of the specifications of the current High-end iPhone 12 Pro Max would move down the range on the regular iPhone 13 and Pro. Specifically, the 2.5x longer telephoto zoom lens.

His also possible than the lidar feature for improved depth detection – currently only available on the 12 Pro models — would be available on the whole iPhone 13 range.

A bigger one camera bump

Patterns seen from MacRumors suggest that camera “bump” surrounding the lenses on the current iPhone 12 lineup it will be thicker. This would be allow the lenses to sit flush with the surface, instead of sticking out out like them currently to do. Although this may be purely for aesthetic reasons may be in part a allow for the widest aperture and sensor displacement stabilization that could be added to the super- wide angle lens.

The schemes also suggest that the increase in the size will be common on both the 13 Pro and the 13 Pro Max which may indicate that the two phones will feature an identical camera installation, giving the best photography performance, independently of what size do you go? for. This would be a welcome change for photographers – myself included – who want the best image quality possible, but I’d rather have a smaller phone in their pocket.

No big surprises

There are no credible rumors in this moment they talk of any drastic changes to the camera, so it’s safe to assume that the overall triple lens setup will remain practically equal. This is not really a surprise; Apple only has just refined its telephoto lens on the 12 Pro Max, so it’s unlikely to replace it right away with, let’s say, a 10x zoom (despite Samsung S21 Ultra kick in ass the iPhone while zooming in). That said, an early rumor suggested that we might see a longer “periscope zoom” on the iPhone, but that this may not appear, if at all, until 2022.

But we’ll keep an eye out on the rumor mill and will update this article with the most credible reports as they appear.
