IPL 2021: Punjab Kings appoint Damien Wright as bowling coach

“Wright is in the right place. Another Aussie on board,” tweeted the Punjab Kings official handle. Wright has coaching experience in Australia, New Zealand and Bangladesh.

The 45-year-old bowler made 123 appearances in his first-rate career, starting his career for Worcestershire in 1997-98, ESPNcricinfo reported. He played representative cricket until 2011, including for Australia, and after retiring as a player, he focused on coaching. In the Big Bash League (BBL), Wright has worked with Hobart Hurricanes and Melbourne Stars.

In the IPL 2021 auction, the Punjab Kings brought nine new players on board for IPL 2021. Punjab Kings packed up players like the Australian pace sensation Jhye Richardson, the Australian all-rounder Riley Meredith and further strengthened the team with the 25-year-old Shahrukh Khan. Moises Henriques and Dawid Malan.

Richardson was bought by the Punjab Kings for 14 rupees while Meredith was bought for 8 rupees. Also there are Fabian Allen, Jalaj Saxena, Saurabh Kumar and Utkarsh Singh.
