The Iranian judiciary announced today that the death toll from the fire and riots in Tehran’s Evin prison has risen to eight prisoners.

And the Reuters news agency cited Iranian sources that 4 other prisoners were killed as a result of the fire that broke out a few days ago in the Evin prison.

And last Saturday, a series of deaths occurred after a fire broke out, amid riots and clashes, after four weeks of protests over the death of 22-year-old Mahsa Amini, in following her arrest for allegedly violating Iran’s strict dress code for women.

According to IRNA, shots and explosions were heard from inside the prison during the fire, and the fire broke out causing thick smoke. in movies published on social media.

Relatives of the prisoners and human rights groups expressed serious concerns about the other detainees and said the authorities used tear gas to treat detainees inside the prison.

And the official Iranian news agency had announced that 4 people were killed and 61 injured in the events that took place last night in Tehran’s Evin prison.

The US State Department had previously warned that Iran is responsible for the safety of US citizens detained in Evin Prison after riots and fires broke out inside the prison.
