Italian stock index fell 2.6% after Draghi announced his resignation

The Italian stock index tumbled 2.6% on Thursday after Italian Prime Minister Mario Draghi said he intends to submit his resignation to the country’s president today.

Trading data showed that the index of the Italian stock exchange FTSE by 11:15 Moscow time fell by 2.31% to 20,856 points.

Prior to this, the index recorded a fall of 2.6%, according to data from the Bloomberg website.

Italian Prime Minister Mario Draghi announced that he intends today to submit his resignation to the President of the Republic after the withdrawal of 3 parties from the coalition that formed his government.

The Italian Prime Minister asked Parliament to hold a meeting, stressing his intention to contact the President of the Republic to inform him of his decision.
