Italy .. Declaration of the state of emergency on the island of Ischia after a landslide

A state of emergency is often declared in the peninsula following earthquakes, volcanic eruptions or adverse weather conditions, because tale state provides for a rapid procedure to mobilize funds and resources, including those for civil protection, for emergency interventions or for the establishment of reception facilities.

The city of Casamicola Terme, with a population of 8,000 inhabitants in winter, it experienced an earthquake that killed two people in 2017. This city was completely destroyed by a much stronger earthquake in the late 19th century.

On the spot, over 200 members of the Civil Protection and the police continue the search for a dozen missing persons, while hundreds of volunteers are busy cleaning the streets of the town.

Everywhere are visible the remains of auto and buses overwhelmed by the violence of the landslide and the boulders, while some workers try to clear the road to reach houses, auto and shops.
