James Bond: Daniel Craig got ‘super emotional’ on last day filming No Time To Die – WATCH

It’s been two years since Daniel Craig wrapped his final day as James Bond in No Time To Die. But now after many delays, the new 007 movie is finally in cinemas and Craig has reflected on shooting his last scenes as Bond. Appearing on The Tonight Show, Jimmy Fallon asked the 53-year-old: “Was it super emotional because you knew it was the last one?”

Initially, Craig admitted this wasn’t the case at first, but it really hit him when it came to his final day as Bond on No Time To Die.

The out-going 007 said: “It wasn’t while we were filming it. I don’t have time to think about that sort of thing.

“You always think about tomorrow or next week or whatever you’re going to do. There’s always sort of fires to put out and things to do.

“But the last night, it was like 2am, backlot at Pinewood, it’s pissing with rain. It’s like kind of apt as it could be.”

Craig’s final day as Bond was shooting the Cuba scenes and it was only right that his last day as 007 was while he was wearing black tie.

The 53-year-old said: “And all I do is, I’m in a tuxedo, and I walk down – it’s in the movie – I walk down an alleyway and that’s it. It’s my last scene. And most movies, when you finish them, they’re just big anticlimaxes.

“Everybody’s so tired. You’re just like, ‘Yeah, see you, bye!’ Y’know, you want to get home.

“And every single person in the office had stayed late, all the cast had stayed late, all the crew had stayed late and all the heads of department.”

Craig added: “Suddenly there’s 200 people standing there and I had to make a speech, which is just the last thing…”

The Bond star’s goodbye speech was captured and appears in the new Apple documentary film Being James Bond: The Daniel Craig Story.

Holding back tears, Craig said: “And a lot of people have worked on five pictures with me and I know there’s a lot of things said about what I think about these films or all of those whatever.

“But I’ve loved every single second of these movies, and especially this one. Because I’ve got up every morning and I’ve had the chance to work with you guys. And that has been one of the greatest honours of my life, so…”

During the documentary, Craig admitted he almost didn’t return to make No Time To Die.

He said: “I don’t want to go on about how hard Spectre was, but it was tough and I needed a break. I needed to kind of switch off, to get away. And I genuinely felt psychologically at the end of that film, ‘Maybe I’m just too old.’”

Nevertheless, anyone who’s seen the new movie can see why Craig wanted to make one more, wrapping up the narrative arc of his five Bond outings.

No Time To Die is out now in cinemas.
