This year James Bond’s 25th film, No Time To Die, is being released, bringing an end to Daniel Craig’s journey as 007. His final film as the spy is already a little different as it employed pop star Billie Eilish as the singer of its theme song of the same name. Famed music producer Fraser T Smith thinks the Bond series should make an even bigger change in style for the next theme song, however.
Speaking on the For Your Ears Only podcast, Smith expressed great interest in wanting to create the next Bond theme.
The star has previously found success in the charts by helping write songs such as Adele’s Set Fire To The Rain, as well as helping another Bond singer, Sam Smith, on his album.
Most recently Smith produced Stormzy’s debut album Gang Signs & Prayer, which won Best Album at the Brit Awards in 2018.
Smith said of a rapper taking over the Bond soundtrack: “It’s time, isn’t it?”

Smith went on: “It could be Stormzy. With a John Barry-esque futuristic beat. It already sounds like something!”
The music producer then went on to describe his ideal version of a new soundtrack.
He said: “I’d love to take elements of John Barry and to have that huge sound.
“But I think there could be something electronic that could work within that as well.”
Ladbrokes recently gave Stormzy 2/1 odds on taking on the next theme song for the franchise.
The company’s Alex Apati commented: “We’ve seen some huge names record Bond themes over the years, and the latest odds suggest there’s every chance Stormzy joins that eclectic group of stars.”
James Bond theme: Billie Eilish is the current singer of the theme song
If Smith and Stormzy were to take on the Bond theme, they would have some large shoes to fill.
This year’s entry, No Time To Die, penned and sung by Billie, has been a massive success.
Not only is the American singer the youngest star to have the privilege of singing the Bond track, but she has also won a number of awards for it.
Most notably, Billie Eilish won the Grammy Award for Best Song Written for Visual Media.

Billie’s No Time To Die Grammy Award is even more special because it marks the first time a movie’s soundtrack has won an award before the film itself had been released in cinemas.
However, if any star were going to top Billie’s performance, Stormzy would be a good contender.
The British star was the first grime artist to achieve a number one album in the UK Album Charts.
On top of this, Stormzy was one of the first grime artists to headline Glastonbury Festival.
The artist for the next Bond theme song won’t be announced until the next 007 movie has been revealed.
Craig steps down from the role after No Time To Die is released later this year, ushering in a new version of the British spy.
At the moment, the odds from Ladbrokes are in the favour of Netflix and Bridgerton star Regé-Jean Page, who has a staggering 2/1 odds.
James Bond No Time To Die is due for release on September 30, 2021.
