James McTeigue Announced No More Sequels for Matrix Resurrections

Matrix Resurrections producer James McTeigue has announced that there are currently no plans for further sequels to the sci-fi series.

When asked if the series could continue after Resurrection, McTeigue said: “Look, for us, it’s just the movie you’ve seen right now. We have no predecessors in mind. There’s no sequel in memory. We do not. has another trilogy.”

After sixty years, the events of the original Matrix trilogy, Resurrections plays Keanu Reeves ‘Neo and Carrie-Anne Moss’ Trinity back after their disappearance at the end of the Matrix Revolutions in 2003. It can also tell the story up to Resurrection Preachers. But McTeigue said it was up to the public to fill those gaps.

“I think the film works where it’s open to interpretation for the audience, as it did in the 60 years before Neo or Thomas Anderson was drafted,” McTeigue said. “When Neo and Trinity end up talking to the analyst, what do you mean by them wanting to change? So I think it’s over there, but it’s not in our wheelhouse at the moment. ”

Resurrection, which received mixed reviews from critics and the general public, opened with a disappointing $ 22.5 million during its five-day nationwide film holiday. Before the film was released, Warner Bros. CEO said. Ann Sarnoff said Matrix 5 is an option while director Lana Wachowski is ready. “When Lana [Wachowski] wants to make a movie, we’re all there,” Sarnoff said.

Jessica Henwick, a blue hacker, named Bugs in Resurrections, was recently asked about a byproduct centered around her character. Henwick implemented the idea of an independent project and said: “Bugs completed his mission. He did his job. The world is so rich, and there are so many other stories to tell. So we’ll see, but from now on and from now on, I will say, “I have not heard anything. Bugs live the good life. ”

Meanwhile, Reeves recently raised the possibility of returning to another seemingly expiring franchise. Asked if he was reunited with Sandra Bullock for Speed, Reeves said: “I can never say that because I’m here for Matrix Resurrections, and at the end of the trilogy, I’m dead, so you can do it. And never say that. ”

The Matrix Resurrection is now in theaters and streamed on HBO Max.
