Jeremy Renner, a 52-year-old actor known for his roles in Marvel films, was attempting to save his nephew from a snow plough accident on New Year’s Day. According to a Nevada sheriff’s office incident report, the brake of the snowcat vehicle was not on, and this would have prevented the vehicle from sliding after Renner used it to pull his nephew’s truck out of the snow. The report indicated that the brake indicator light inside the snowcat’s cab was not functioning, and “mechanical issues may have been a factor in this accident”. Renner was pulled under the vehicle by the track and run over. His nephew was able to help him until the rescue arrived, and Renner was airlifted to the hospital where he underwent at least two surgeries. Last week, Renner reportedly returned from the hospital following a lengthy stay in intensive care. He shared a selfie from his hospital bed after the accident saying he was “too messed up” to type.
