Jofra Archer misses the start of IPL: ECB

Archer, a Rajasthan Royals player, was excluded from a 14-person English squad for the three-game ODI series against India that began in Pune on Tuesday due to a worsening elbow injury.

The ECB said the 25-year-old pacemaker was returning home for further treatment and investigation for his right elbow injury.

“The ECB’s medical team will assess the player and work with Jofra to develop a treatment plan and a return schedule in due course. As a result, Jofra will miss the start of this year’s Indian Premier League,” it said in a statement.

“Archer’s elbow problem has worsened over the course of the T20 International series, making it increasingly difficult for him to maintain the level of performance.”

England captain Eoin Morgan announced on Saturday that Archer is expected to be out of the upcoming IPL from April 9, as the Star Pacer’s elbow injury has worsened.

After missing the final Test due to his difficult elbow, Archer returned to the T20I series claiming seven wickets, including a career best 4/33 in the fourth game.
