European traders said today, Thursday, that the state buyer of cereals in Jordan has launched a new international tender for the purchase of 120,000 tons of fodder barley.
The deadline for the submission of offers in the announcement is 1 December.
Global food prices rose for the third consecutive month last October, reaching the highest levels of the last decade, driven by higher prices for cereals and vegetable oils.
FAO’s Food Price Index, which measures global prices for the most traded food on the market, recorded one media by 133.2 points last month, compared with a revised reading of 129.2 points in September. The previous reading for September was 130 points. The October reading was the highest in the index since July 2011.
The FAO Grain Price Index increased 3.2% on a monthly basis.
