Earlier this month, the hip-hop community was shocked when news of the death of Juice WRLD was published in the press. It is not once but the fourth time in the last 2 years that a rising star in the community has lost his life too soon, after the death of Lil Peep in 2017, XXXTentacion, Mac Miller, then Juice WRLD.
According to a Billboard report, Juice Wrld went from 58th position on the Billboard Artist 100 until December 21, which means he was the best musical actor for two consecutive weeks. As previously reported, he died at Chicago Airport on December 8.
Earlier this year, Juice WRLD’s name reached the top of the Artist 100 on March 23, with his second long-running album, Death Race For Love, which was the first time he had achieved a number one album on the Billboard.
As most people know, the death of performers, although quite tragic, generally leads to a massive increase in sales as well as an appreciation of the artists. XXXTentacion, who died in June 2018, Tom Petty from October of the previous year, as well as Prince and David Bowie in 2016 are some of the other names in the industry to experience a surge in popularity.

Huge record sales or not, the past two years have been tough for hip hop and rap fans, especially the rap movement SoundCloud, often described as “emo-trap”. The style, led by Juice WRLD, Lil ‘Peep, XXXTentaction and Trippie Redd, among others, has lost many of its biggest names.
Furthermore, the relationship between the opioid epidemic and the deaths of several of the aforementioned stars has only highlighted the growing gravity of the problem.
The death of Mac Miller – whose musical style was different from the other artists mentioned above – was probably the most reported, however, due to his relationship with Ariana Grande, who is one of the greatest pop stars in the world.
Juice WRLD was commemorated by a number of stars after his death, including Nicki Minaj, among many others.
