Jussie Smollett is reportedly in talks to return for the ‘Empire’ final

The name of Jussie Smollett continues to ring after the scandal that cost the city of Chicago millions of dollars. Despite all of this, Jussie may well resume his role as Jamal Lyon one last time.

As noted above, Jussie was excluded from the program after being accused of filing a false police report. Brett Mahoney, the runner for #Empire, insists, however, that it would be strange not to see Jamal making an appearance for the series finale, Fox News reports.

“It would be weird in my mind to end this family show and this family drama of which he was such an important part without seeing it,” said Mahoney. “It is fair to say that this is under discussion, but there is still no place to bring it back. No decision has been made.”

So far, Jussie’s character Jamal has been absent for the entire sixth and final season of the show, but his possible return could mean a turning point for the brand.

As previously reported, Jussie told police that he was attacked by two distinguished men while driving him from a Chicago subway station at around 2 a.m.

Authorities concluded, however, that these allegations were false and Jussie was charged with filing a false police report. The city of Chicago has also filed a lawsuit against him, seeking all of the money spent to investigate his alleged attack.

Jussie has since filed a lawsuit against the city, alleging that he was the victim of a malicious prosecution that resulted in humiliation and extreme distress.
