Kate Garraway, 54, has been through it all over the past year and a half and no one around would deny her and her family some much needed time away from London. The Good Morning Britain presenter whisked her children Darcey and Billy, along with her parents away to Cornwall for a short break, while her husband Derek Draper is looked after by his family and nurses.
Thanks to the wonderful mum dad & sisters draper for coming down to be with Derek
Derek was allowed to return home earlier this year but still requires round-the-clock care as his communication is limited while he recovers from the devastating effects of Covid.
He was first admitted back in March 2020 and has since suffered major damage to most of his organs, including holes in his heart and diabetes.
It had been Kate’s first trip away since having him back in the family home, and she shared some footage of their time at the beach on Instagram.
The picturesque video shows 15-year-old Darcey and 11-year-old Billy playing football with their cousins as the sun was setting.
