Kerry Katona Says Eamonn and Ruth Should Come Back to This Morning

Kerry Katona has weighed in on the future of This Morning, saying Eamonn Holmes and Ruth Langsford should come back to the show. The ex-Atomic Kitten singer believes it’s “time for change” after Phillip Schofield sensationally quit the ITV programme amid speculation of a feud with former co-host Holly Willoughby.

Kerry Questions Phil and Holly’s Friendship

Commenting on the duo’s on-screen relationship, Kerry, 42, also said she no longer believes in Phil and Holly’s friendship and watching them present together in recent times made her cringe. This Morning has been dogged with controversy in recent months, culminating in 61-year-old Schofield quitting ITV altogether on Friday after admitting to an “unwise, but not illegal” affair with a young male colleague on the show while he was still married.

Kerry Wants Eamonn and Ruth to Return to Restore Credibility

The I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here! winner said married couple Eamonn and Ruth being brought back would restore some credibility to the show in the wake of the current scandal. “I used to love Eamonn and Ruth on the show, lets get them back,” Kerry said. She’s not alone in wanting to see the pair return to the programme as thousands of social media users have also urged ITV chiefs to ‘bring back Ruth and Eamonn’.

Eamonn Criticizes ITV Bosses

It seems and unlikely prospect, however, after former GMTV host Eamonn has criticised ITV bosses in recent days, including during a full-throated attack on Schofield from his Twitter account on Friday. “Ruth and I [were] deceived and lied to… What ­transpired took us for fools. The man told us complete lies and we ­unfortunately believed him,” he tweeted. “Schofield has finally been caught out, but he’s not the only guilty party. Four high members of ITV management knew what sort of man he was.”

ITV Responds to Schofield’s Confession

An ITV spokesperson said the broadcaster had been ‘badly let down’ by the ‘admissions of deceit’ made by Schofield after the presenter admitted to the affair. “We are deeply disappointed by the admissions of deceit made tonight by Phillip Schofield,” the spokesperson said. “The relationships we have with those we work with are based on trust. “Phillip made assurances to us which he now acknowledges were untrue and we feel badly let down.”
