Kiev threatens to bomb the Crimean strategic bridge. Russia: The scheme will fail

Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said Wednesday that Moscow was “fully aware” of Kiev’s threats to strike the Crimean bridge, which connects the Russian mainland with the peninsula.

The commander of the Ukrainian forces, Dmitry Marchenko, had recently said that the Crimean bridge “will be the first target of defeat” after Kiev receives the weapons promised by the West, adding: “This is no secret to anyone”.

Ukraine recently threatened to bomb the Crimean bridge and said it had “detailed technical documents and detailed information on the terrain, road surface, bridge pillars, landslide-proof structures, entrances and exits and all the bridge infrastructure “.

Commenting on these threats, Lavrov said yesterday: “We have a responsible army and all these threats are being taken in consideration, there is no smoke without fire and I am convinced that all these plans will completely fail “, according to the Russian news agency” Novosti “.

For his part, the spokesman of the Kremlin, Dmitry Peskov, said that the Russian army guarantees the safety of the “Crimean bridge”.

It is noteworthy that this bridge is of great strategic and political importance, and its length is about 17 kilometers, and it is considered the longest bridge in Europe. It was built after the annexation of Crimea to Russia in 2014 and inaugurated in 2018 at a cost of over $ 3 billion.

In a related context, in In response to a question about Ukraine’s possible hopes of restoring Crimea or preventing the extension of infrastructure links in the region, Peskov said: “It is difficult to expect constructive negotiations on this or not, because everything is in place.”
