Sylvi Kilicdaroglu sends message ahead of Turkish presidential election

Sylvi Kilicdaroglu, the wife of Kamal Kilicdaroglu, the Turkish presidential candidate from the opposition Umma Alliance, sent a message regarding the second round of the presidential elections.

Hoping for the best

On her Twitter account, Sylvie Kilicdaroglu posted a photo of herself tying a Martinicka bracelet to a tree branch. Commenting on the photo, she wrote: “We will keep our hope for our country and our people. We must succeed for the sake of our women and children,” referring to the second round of the presidential elections in Turkey.

Martinezka bracelet traditions

It is worth noting that the Martinezka bracelet is one of the traditions of celebrating the arrival of spring in the Balkans, it is worn from March 1 to the end of March, it is stitched with red and white threads, heralding the arrival of spring. The white color used in the bracelet represents longevity, while the red color symbolizes health and strength.

Second round of presidential elections

Presidential and parliamentary elections were held in Turkey last Sunday, in which the outgoing president, People’s Alliance candidate Recep Tayyip Erdogan, People’s Alliance candidate, Republican People’s Party leader Kamal Kılıçdaroğlu and Sinan Ogan’s Coalition of Heirs contested the presidential election.

On Monday, the head of Turkey’s High Electoral Commission, Ahmed Yanar, officially announced that the second round of presidential elections would take place on May 28, as no candidate received more than 50% of the vote.
