Kuchta leads the Czech Republic to victory over Switzerland in the European Nations League

Prague: Jan Kochta scored an early goal before a Swiss player’s own goal in the second half when the Czech Republic beat Switzerland 2-1 on Thursday in an interesting Nations League group stage match that saw many wasted chances. Kochta opened the scoring on 11 minutes when the Czech forward took advantage of a defensive error after a throw-in to score his first goal in national. Noah Okafor equalized for the visiting team just before the end of the first half, after rushing on a rebound inside thearea penalty and firing a close range shot that hit the inside of the crossbar before hitting the net. The two teams attack throughout the game, and the hosts miss two golden chances at the start of the second half when Adam Hlozk shoots alone with the goalkeeper only to then go via and Vladimir Koval shoots from distance to bounce off the post. Czech efforts paid off in the 58th minute when Jacob Jankto sent a cross that hit Swiss midfielder Gabriel Sow to change direction and in net. Switzerland pressured to equalize and forced Czech goalkeeper Tomas Vaslik to block several close range attempts to secure the hosts victory. (Reuters)
