Kuleba: America will impose harsh new sanctions against Russia

Ukrainian Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba announced today, Sunday, after discussions with his American counterpart, Anthony Blinken, that the United States will impose new “tough” sanctions on Russia.

The Ukrainian minister also said, through his Twitter account, that he had discussed with Blinken ways to lift restrictions on Ukrainian food exports and ensure global food security.

He also indicated that he had coordinated with the US minister the necessary steps to accelerate what he called Ukraine’s “victory” day. in which Russia launched a military operation at the end of February.

Russian special operation

These Ukrainian statements arrive in response to what Moscow considers a “special” military operation launched on the territory of its western neighbor on February 24, with the aim of “disarming Ukraine and freeing it from what it describes as Nazism and hostile nationalism”.

And that operation led to the killing of thousands of people and the displacement of nearly 10 million people, according to what was confirmed by Kiev and some data from the United Nations.

It also caught Moscow in the grip of harsh Western sanctions and raised fears of a wider confrontation with the West, similar to a world war.

It is interesting to note that Victory Day, which falls on May 9, is one of the most important national events in the country for Russia, especially as it embodies the memory of the enormous sacrifices made by the Soviet Union to defeat Nazi Germany.
