Kuril Islands in Russia Hit by Magnitude 5 Earthquake

Today an earthquake measuring 5 on the Richter scale struck the coast of the Kuril Islands, located in the far east of Russia. The Unified Geophysical Authority of the Russian Academy of Sciences said the epicenter of the quake occurred at 183 km southeast of Iturup Island. , at a depth of 33 km.
