Kuwait: OPEC + decision is “purely economic”

Today, Tuesday, the Kuwaiti Ministry of Foreign Affairs expressed full solidarity with Saudi Arabia for the statements made following the decision of the OPEC + group to reduce oil production, stressing that the decision was based on “pure economic studies”.

The Kuwaiti news agency sued the ministry for saying in a statement that these statements “took the decision out of its pure economic framework,” noting that OPEC + made its decision unanimously by all countries in the group.

The statement adds: “The decision taken by the OPEC + group was based on pure economic studies in which he took in considering the balance between supply and demand in global oil markets, in so as to preserve these markets from fluctuations and serve the interests of producers and consumers alike “.

The ministry praised the role played by Saudi Arabia and its contributions in addressing regional and international challenges “in a way that preserves the common interests of countries, preserves the pace and international security and supports the balance of the oil market and global economic stability “.

Interestingly, the OPEC + group, which includes the Organization of the Petroleum Exporting Countries (OPEC) and some major producers outside of it, decided earlier this month to reduce oil production by two million. barrels per day, starting next November.

The decision was criticized by Washington, which considered it “political”.
