Kyiv authorities are persecuting the former head of the Ukrainian Central

The National Anti-Corruption Directorate of Ukraine announced on Monday that it had put on the wanted list the former head of the National Bank of Ukraine, Kyrylo Shevchenko, who had previously been accused of embezzlement.

Shevchenko is wanted in a case of embezzlement of funds linked to Ukrgasbank, which he headed before he became head of the Central Bank of Ukraine.

The National Anti-Corruption Bureau of Ukraine is prosecuting three Ukrgasbank officials for embezzling more than 200 million hryvnias (more than $5.5 million).

The National Anti-Corruption Directorate of Ukraine published photos of the wanted men, including Shevchenko, and the Prosecutor General’s Office stated that “charges were brought against them in early October 2022, but by special order, since the whereabouts of these people are unknown, and since then the suspects have ignored the calls of the investigator, in connection with which they were put on the wanted list.
