Eroski and customers donate €435,000

Spanish retailer Eroski launched a campaign last month during his commercial network collect for the people affected by the eruption of the Cumbre Vieja volcano on La Palma Island.

As part of the campaign, the retailer stimulated consumption of Canary Bananas as a way of supporting the banana sector and the population affected by this natural disaster. It said it would donate €0.10 for every kilogram of Eroski Natur bananas sold in to be stores. Customers were also in able to make a voluntary donation to the cash registers.

At the launch Alejandro Martínez Berriochoa, director of health and sustainability at Eroski, said: “Direct attention is a priority in cases of natural disasters such as the one we experience in La Palma. from Eroski, we will donate and channel the solidarity of our customers via the Red Cross, die offers help and support on the island of the first moment, om help cover the basic needs of food and shelter of those affected people.

Canary banana is one of our most valued products, both for its quality and taste. in this difficult one times for the banana sector in La Palma, we want to make our customers aware of the importance of bet more than ever on this product so relevant to the island economy and employment.

“The eruption of the volcano is serious consequences for plantations and infrastructure, but consuming banana from La Palma is still safe, healthy and delicious. The donation die we do from Eroski, added on that of our customers, will allow us to cover the basic needs of the population hit by the volcano.”

And it has now been confirmed that they raised 435,000 euros for the cause. Well done everyone!!
