Aid funds are slowly getting started arrive on La Palma

DW- The Spanish government had promised over €250 million until help the inhabitants and finances of the island new houses, infrastructure and compensation payments for companies. But the funds have been slow to arrive.

Until now, the regional government has only been able to invest a fraction of the promised one money, for example, in housing for evacuees of to them with psychological support. Some funds have also addressed institution up new Irrigation systems for some banana plantations die are cut off from the water supply.

However, a lot of of the islanders complain that they barely got anything of the financial staff until now because its dissemination has been overly bureaucratic.

Meanwhile, Spain is still dragging its heels on looking for funds from the EU disaster management mechanism.
