Lavrov: America has made it clear to us that it does not intend to send its experts in Ukraine

Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov confirmed on Wednesday that the United States has made it clear to Moscow through diplomatic channels that it does not intend to send experts in Ukraine to operate Patriot air defense systems, according to Russia’s Sputnik news agency.

He also said that Washington has informally suggested Moscow several times to hold meetings, and Moscow has agreed each time, but so far only one meeting has been achieved between the two countries’ foreign intelligence chiefs in Ankara.

Lavrov added, in an interview on the channel Russia 1, today, Wednesday: “They know very well that we have not stopped the dialogue. Many of these informal proposals during this period whenever we agreed.”

“There have been other parallel calls, also regarding proposals from Washington, which we have never rejected, but then these calls in somehow they failed,” Lavrov said.

“The United States has, through diplomatic channels, made it clear at length that it does not intend to send American specialists in Ukraine with their Patriot air defense systems,” Lavrov said.

Interestingly, US President Joe Biden announced last Wednesday during his meeting with his Ukrainian counterpart Volodymyr Zelensky at the White House that the United States would supply Ukraine with advanced Patriot air defense systems.

US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken stated that “the United States will supply Patriot air defense systems to Ukraine for the first time”, and Blinken revealed, “the allocation of $850 million in security aid to Ukraine and 1 billion dollars for the development of air defense systems».
