Lavrov: The continuation of the grain agreement depends on UN consumer clarifications

Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said on Monday that his country has asked the United Nations for data on the destinations of grain shipments and the countries that consume them.

Lavrov’s comments come after the Ukrainian government accused Russia on Sunday of obstructing the implementation of the agreement on grain shipments across the Black Sea, calling for its renewal.

“Russia is deliberately obstructing the full implementation of the grain initiative and, as a result, Ukrainian ports used only 25-30% of their capacity a few days ago,” the Ukrainian Ministry of Infrastructure said. in a statement via the Telegram app on Sunday.

In a related context, a UN spokesperson said Monday that “there is a lot to do” to resolve the backlog of more than 150 ships in the agreement to ship grain across the Black Sea.
