Lavrov: The Gulf states will not join the sanctions imposed on us

After a closed-door meeting with the foreign ministers of the countries of the Gulf Cooperation Council in Riyadh, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov saw that the West is trying to form a unilateral world led by the United States.

In a press conference on Wednesday, he also accused Western countries of pushing Ukraine to threaten the security of his country.

You will not join the sanctions.

He said the Gulf Cooperation Council countries understand the nature of the conflict between his country and the West, adding that the Gulf countries have confirmed they will not join sanctions against Moscow.

Furthermore, he stressed that Western countries violate the UN Charter with their actions against his country, calling for the need to withdraw heavy weapons from Ukraine.

He also felt that international conventions and the Minsk Treaty clearly defined the status of the eastern regions of Ukraine, but according to him Kiev has not implemented such charters.

The Russian minister arrived yesterday in Riyadh, where he met his Saudi counterpart, Prince Faisal bin Farhan, who stressed the Kingdom’s readiness to make the necessary efforts to contribute to a political solution to the Russian-Ukrainian conflict, which has now reached its fourth month.

This visit also took place a day before the OPEC + meeting in Vienna, where the group is expected to abide by the oil production deal reached last year and raise production targets by 432,000 barrels per day next July.

It is noteworthy that since the launch of the Russian military operation on Ukrainian territory on February 24, Western countries have sided with Kiev, supporting it with weapons and equipment.

Thousands of harsh sanctions have been imposed on Moscow, including all commercial and economic sectors, as well as hundreds of Russian politicians and wealthy people.
