Scientists from Newcastle University and Flinders University have discovered health risks when using the Tefal pan.
Scientific journal indicates of Total Environment, according to researchers, when this pan is damaged, it releases plastic particles.
To study the effects of using Tefal cookware, the researchers used molecular spectroscopy and also developed a computer model. The results showed that even one crack in the Teflon coating could release 2.3 million plastic nanoparticles into food.
According to the researchers, these results highlight the need to inform professionals and consumers about the dangers of plastic nanoparticles when cooking with these cookware.
The researchers plan to conduct additional experiments to evaluate the danger of these particles to human health.
