In this context, Lenderking will continue to call for a permanent solution to the fuel crisis, including the end of restrictions on imports of petroleum derivatives and the “Houthi manipulation of their prices and storage”.

During his meetings with international partners, the US envoy will also address the repercussions of the Houthis’ attack on Marib, “which aggravates the humanitarian crisis and kills more civilians”.

The US State Department said its special envoy will continue to ask all parties to work to find a permanent solution to the oil derivatives crisis. Including the lifting of restrictions on fuel imports.

The visit of the new US envoy to the region comes amid violent clashes in the country between government forces and Houthi coup militias on various fighting fronts, the most violent of which is in the Governorate of Marib.

The Houthi militia is imposing a complete siege on the Abdiya district, south of Marib. It is targeting people with its heavy weapons, leaving dozens of victims and about 10,000 forced to flee the district, according to the International Organization for Migration.
