Lincoln Aviator delves into Detroit’s roots with Shinola Concept

The outside looks nice enough.

Lincoln decided to keep it local when it came time to prepare a special concept car for this year Concours d’Elegance of Pebble Beach. On Monday, the luxury brand revealed the Aviator Shinola Concept, flush with leather e design input from the local luxury brand Shinola. The Detroit-based company is best known for luxury watches but also delights in bags and bicycles.

When it came to the Aviator Shinola concept, Lincoln said he visited Shinola’s flagship showroom in Detroit: inspiration has arrived directly from a duffel bag, a watch and one bike seat. The inspiration of the watch arrives first. The outside of the SUV wears a soft white hue, reminiscent of Shinola’s mother of dials for watches in pearl stone. There are also suggestions of also blue, which looks really lovely. This color matches with copper accents, which in some cases Lincoln said they aim to provide a look in pink gold. Here, a Shinola bike seat provides inspiration. Specifically, a Runwell bike and its plated structural attachments in copper.

This combination looks like a lot good. The places are just a little too much, though.

Overall, is the exterior a lovely ode to some? of Shinola’s modern luxury motifs. The inside is, well, more of a mixed bag. From the driver The seat looks straight into the dashboard, things seem carefully put together. There are models in Shinola leather and woven wire mesh that help provide the cabin with some texture and pop. Where the plot derails a bit, at least for me and some of my colleagues, are the concept dear seats in skin.

places’ design it’s an ode to Shinola watch bands, which is appropriate, but the brown leather has a sheen that makes things look rather greasy. The cream insert and the stitched strip again reminiscent of Shinola’s watches, as well as the concept’s exterior color, but I think a softer skin color would have worked better. Lincoln said he pursued warm tones to recreate the feeling of a strap in quality leather. At the very least, I keep applauding Lincoln for test out bold interior colors. The standard black, gray and beige age a lot.

The brand did not say if it has plans put any type of Shinola Edition in production for Aviator customers, but it doesn’t seem like it out of the question. For now, the Detroit-influenced SUV will sit on display at this month’s Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance in California, where Lincoln could go more reply on how much the public like this collaboration.
