Look… The Brazilian First Lady ignores the Iranian representative and refuses to shake his hand

A widely circulated video about social media showed that the new first Brazilian lady ignored and deliberately did not shake hands with representatives of Iran during the inauguration of President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva.

The video showed Brazil’s First Lady Rosangela da Silva, aka “Ganga,” walking away so as not to shake hands with the representative of Iran, in evident contempt, and after he had left the stage, silently returned to the right of her husband, President Lula da Silva, to shake hands with the rest of the supporters.

Lula da Silva was inaugurated as Brazil’s president for the third time on Sunday after being sworn in before Congress in the capital, Brasilia, in amidst a “red tide” of his supporters.

Lula da Silva, 77, was erected during a ceremony in Congress in which he was sworn in, 12 years after leaving power after two presidential terms (2003-2010).

His return to the Palazzo del Planalto is an exceptional step, especially as it was just four years ago in prison on bribery charges.

Lula delivered a strong speech after taking office, pledging to “rebuild the country with the Brazilian people”, referring to the “disastrous” record of his predecessor, Jair Bolsonaro.

Thousands of supporters dressed in Labor Party colors greeted the new president as he headed to Congress in a traditional open-top Rolls-Royce with Alcmene and their wives, despite safety concerns.

And he missed the inauguration ceremonies that took place in conditions of tight security while far-right activists still refused to recognize the victory of Lula, the outgoing president Jair Bolsonaro, who left Brazil two days before the end of his mandate.
