Louise Minchin: BBC Breakfast star joins GMB host in TV appearance after exit announcement

Louise Minchin is set to exit BBC Breakfast after almost 20 years. She joined the morning show in 2001 and became one of its lead presenters in 2012 when production moved to Salford, Manchester.

The 52-year-old has shared her excitement as she gave details of her new move.

Louise joined Good Morning Britain presenter, Sean Fletcher, as the pair are set to make an appearance on Richard Osman’s quiz show House of Games.

In view of her 209,000 followers, the Breakfast host retweeted a post from the rival broadcaster on Twitter, as he shared photos from their time on the set.

Sean wrote: “I’ve had a great time as on #mastermind + #Pointless in the past. But today I learnt that #HouseOfGames is even more enjoyable. Laughed a lot with @KimberlyKWyatt @louiseminchin and @ChrisWash_. And it’s true what they say about @richardosman – serious contender for nicest man in TV.”

The broadcaster took an opportunity to respond to the post as she shared her delight at competing in the quiz programme.

Louise penned: “What a fun day this was, thanks for the invite @richardosman.”

Fans flocked to comment on the post, as social media users quizzed when the show will be aired.

One penned: “When will this be televised?” while another offered: “When can we see it?”

A third wrote: “Love this quiz show look forward to watching you on it.”

“Hi Louise, absolutely adore House of Games, so it’ll be an absolute delight when your week of shows airs hopefully in the not too distant future, fingers crossed you’ve won lots of glorious daily prizes too,” another added.

House of Games sees a group of famous faces go toe to toe in testing their general knowledge skills in a variety of entertaining games.

The news comes after Richard took to the micro-blogging site to tease details ahead of series four.

In view of his one million followers, he wrote: “Exciting news soon about who our bandleader will be on the new prime-time series of #HouseOfGames.

“Filming them at the end of this run of 100 new episodes.”

Meanwhile, Louise shared that she will be leaving the Breakfast team “some time after the summer” and would take “lots of happy memories” away in a candid televised announcement last week.

She told viewers she had loved being on the show but “it is time I stopped setting my alarm for 03:40”, and is now looking forward to “lots of lie-ins”.

Asked what she would do next, she replied: “Anybody who watches will be very well aware my passion is endurance sport, and I will absolutely continue to do that. I’ve got lots of really exciting adventures planned. I’m trying to write a book about that as well.

“And I’ll continue with my podcast, which is all about the mental and physical benefits of sport and exercise.

“And I’ll be having lots of lie-ins. That’s what I’m most excited about right now.”

BBC Breakfast airs daily on BBC one at 6am.
