Louise Minchin reacts to Dan Walker’s tearful post about her BBC exit ‘Always had my back'

Louise Minchin, 52, made the announcement on BBC Breakfast this morning, telling viewers she was looking forward to not setting her alarm anymore. Following her announcement, her co-star Dan Walker, 44, took to Twitter to share an emotional post.

Alongside pictures of the pair, he wrote: “This feels like a break-up.

“What am I going to do without Louise?

“Thank you for all the lovely messages after an emotional morning on #BBCBreakfast – I’m sure Louise will get to read them all later.

“My life will be poorer without her on the sofa. She’s the best.”

In view of her 208,000 followers, Louise replied: “I am going to miss you @mrdanwalker.

“You have always had my back, including today, and it has been an absolute pleasure to be sitting on that red sofa with you. Thank you x.”

The presenter went on to react to other messages from viewers and colleagues.

BBC’s weather host Matt Taylor commented: “We will miss you @louiseminchin x.”

She replied: “Ahhh Matt, I will miss you too, but I will still be watching you and @carolkirkwood on the weather xx.”

Business reporter Nina Warhurst praised Louise for being kind to her and always listening.

“I will miss her very much,” she added in a tweet.

Meghan Mohan said of the presenter: “She is too modest to ever talk about the number of things she’s done privately to help new journalists. What a loss.”

Louise replied, telling followers she will continue to help others behind-the-scenes.

The mother-of-two is yet to reveal whether or not she will stay in broadcasting.

Dan’s former breakfast television rival Piers Morgan has also reacted to his emotional post.

In view of his 7.9 million followers, he joked he will be joining the show as his new co-host.

“Stop blubbing Dan – I start Monday,” he tweeted.

“BBC wanted the guy who beat you in the ratings, and the first same-sex male breakfast presenting team to appease the wokies.”
