Maestro: Release Date, Cast, Trailer, Plot, and Everything We Know So Far

Bradley Cooper’s directorial debut, A Star is Born, shocked both audiences and critics in 2018. The movie was nominated for eight Academy Awards, including Best Picture, Best Actor for Cooper, Best Actress for Lady Gaga, Best Supporting Actor for Sam Elliott, and Best Adapted Screenplay. The movie won the award for Best Original Song with “Shallow.” After five years, Cooper is back as a director with the highly awaited biopic Maestro. He will play the famous composer Leonard Bernstein.

The movie’s production had been held up for a while. Martin Scorsese and Steven Spielberg, two famous directors, were originally attached to direct it before Cooper took over. Cooper says that Spielberg chose him to direct the movie after seeing an early showing of A Star is Born.

What is the Release Date of Maestro?

On December 20, 2023, Maestro will be available to watch on Netflix, just in time for the holidays.

The movie had its world premiere at the 80th Venice International Film Festival, which also showed popular movies like “Ferrara” by Michael Mann, “The Killer” by David Fincher, and “Priscilla” by Sofia Coppola.

The movie was shown again at the BFI London Film Festival and the New York Film Festival. Emma Kiely of Collider was lucky enough to see the movie at the second festival and gave it an A+ rating, saying:

Is There a Trailer for ‘Maestro’?

The teaser video for Maestro came out on Netflix on August 15, 2023. In the 90-second preview, there are two shots of Leonard Bernstein and Felicia Montealegre sitting in a park. The first is in black and white, and the second is in color, showing an older version of the couple.

On October 25, 2023, Netflix posted the full official trailer for Maestro. It showed off the movie’s great reviews and the lead roles played by Carey Mulligan and Bradley Cooper.

Who Is Making ‘Maestro’?

Maestro will be Bradley Cooper’s second movie as a director, following A Star Is Born. Cooper also co-wrote the movie’s script with Josh Singer, who won an Academy Award for Spotlight. Martin Scorsese, Steven Spielberg, Kristie Macosko Krieger (The Fabelmans), Fred Berner (Pollock), and Amy Durning (Law & Order: Organized Crime) will also help create the movie. Some of the people who are executive producing the movie are Singer, Carla Raij (The Fabelmans), Bobby Wilhelm (A Star is Born), Weston Middleton (A Star is Born), and Tracey Landon (Blonde).

Cooper will work with Matthew Libatique again after working with him on A Star Is Born, for which he was nominated for an Academy Award. Michelle Tesoro, who won an Emmy for her work on “The Queen’s Gambit,” is editing the movie. Dress designer Mark Bridges, who won two Academy Awards for Phantom Thread, and production designer Kevin Thompson, who won one for Birdman or (The Unexpected Virtue of Ignorance), are also working on the project.
