Liverpool forward, Senegalese international Sadio Mane, was injured during his country’s game against Togo (1-1) Thursday in the 2022 World Cup qualifiers and did not complete it.
Mane received a strong lateral blow near the ribs and hip as he entered in contact with a Togolese defender, he left the field in the 28th minute and was replaced by the Spanish forward of Villarreal Boulay Dia, in a qualification that ensured Senegal’s qualification for the decisive final.
A Senegalese official revealed to Agence France-Presse that Mane will join his Liverpool side, who will face Arsenal in a summit meeting on November 20 in the local league.
Senegalese coach Aliou Cisse said after the match that he had eliminated Mane as a precaution: “Yes, Mane’s exit has upset our balance. He is an important player. We raised him as a precaution and there is no danger.”
He did not know the severity of Mane’s injury, but if he were to sit still for a while, it would be a blow to Liverpool, which are missing the other Brazilian forward, Roberto Firmino.
Mane shines remarkably in this season, scoring 6 goals in 11 games in the English Premier League and scoring two goals in Champions League against Porto and Atletico Madrid in Spain.
