Marseille drew 1-1 with 10 Lille players

Marseille (France): Olympique de Marseille settled for a 1-1 draw with 10 Lille players on Sunday to miss the chance to join Nice in second place in the French first division. Cengiz Under gave Marseille a point after equalizing the result after Sven Putman advanced in favor of the champion in charge of Lille, but Jorge Sampaoli’s side failed to take advantage of the numerical advantage after Benjamin Andre was sent off in the 32nd minute. With this result, Marseille, who still has one game remaining, remained in third place with a score by 37 points in 20 games, two points behind Nice and 13 behind leaders Paris Saint-Germain. Lille occupies the tenth place and have 29 points in 20 games. Stade Rennes are fourth on 34 points, having beaten 10 Bordeaux players 6-0 on Sunday. At the Velodrome, Lille pass in advantage after 15 minutes when Putman heads the ball in door after avoiding his sergeant William Saliba. Saliba made another mistake seven minutes later when he allowed Burak Yilmaz to header as well, but his attempt was brilliantly saved by goalkeeper Pau Lopez. Lille goalkeeper Ivo Grbic jumped to block a Dimitri Payet free kick after Marseille finally picked up the pace and, as the home team increased the pressure, Andre received a second yellow card leaving Lille in 10 men. But Lille resisted and believed they had doubled the score at the start of the second half, but Jonatan Bamba’s goal was disallowed because Yilmaz was in offside. And Marseille finally manages to equalize with 15 minutes left when Under hits a nice ball in takes Payet’s corner. (Reuters)
