Martin Roberts sends his condolences to 'heartbroken' Sara Cox following sad news

Martin Roberts, 57, sent his heartfelt condolences to Radio 1 DJ Sara Cox, after she announced her beloved dog Beano had passed away. Having recently lost his own pup Rolo at just four years old, the Homes Under The Hammer star knew exactly how horrible it feels to lose a furry family member.

Taking to Instagram on Monday, Sara revealed her adorable Maltese terrier had died, who often often popped up on her social media including one memorable cameo in the BBC studios.

Alongside a sweet snap of the pair, she wrote the caption: “We didn’t have you for long enough but every minute was a blast.

“Heartbroken. Love you my bestest boy. Beano 2013-2021.”

Her post inspired an outpouring of love from her fans and famous faces, including Martin, who shared his sympathies on Twitter.

“Sincere condolences and big hugs Sara,” he messaged.

“I lost Rolo two weeks ago. He was only 4. They are family.

“You gave him a wonderful life and he’s there at the rainbow bridge.”

X-Factor host and fellow radio DJ Dermott O’ Leary was among others who sent their love upon hearing the sad news, writing: “The worst. I’m so sorry.”

Comedian Tom Allen added: “So sorry to hear this Sara. Much love to you.”

Alan Carr also penned with a broken heart emoji: “Oh no – so sorry.”

Martin recently had to have his own dog put down who had been suffering from an undiagnosed disease.

The family’s beloved four-year-old Labradoodle had been in and out of the vets with inflamed bowel disease but had “deteriorated rapidly”.

Martin confessed he was “distraught” after the death of Rolo, sharing several pictures of the pup on social media.

Alongside them, he wrote: “I’m sorry to have to share the unbearably sad news that Rolo has just been put to sleep.

“He had advanced inflamed bowel disease and had deteriorated rapidly.

“There was no cure and they said it was the kindest thing.”

He said he was “in shock, distraught and heartbroken”.

“I loved him so much,” he added.

The TV star had previously asked his Twitter followers for advice, after he became concerned that Rolo had stopped eating.

He later updated fans by telling them that the pooch had to go back to the vets for a thorough investigation, crossing his fingers that the problem could be diagnosed and treated.

He was inundated with condolences on social media following the sad news.
