Mbappé Reflects on Saint-Germain’s UCL Defeat to Bayern Munich

Kylian Mbappé, a player of Paris Saint-Germain, has confirmed that his side cannot be considered as a comebacker in the Champions League round of 16 second leg against Bayern Munich, following their 1-0 loss in the first leg. Kingsley Coman, former Saint-Germain and current Bayern Munich player, scored the only goal in the first leg match at the “Princes Park” stadium.

Mbappé is confident in the side’s ability to qualify for the quarter-finals, saying in statements reported by the official website of Saint-Germain: “As we said, we have to take the positive sides. It’s a two-game match. We can’t change what happened in the first leg. We will go there to qualify. We know there is potential. There is always a good chance of qualifying. So we will go there with a lot of energy and determination.” He further underlined: “It’s not a comeback. The two-goal rule no longer exists in away. We have to score a goal and we will be level, so we have to go there and win. We will play our way, we will play attacking football, which we know how to do, and we will try to go there to win.”

Mbappé initially was ruled out of the first leg due to a hamstring injury against Montpellier earlier this month. However, he featured as a substitute and admitted that he shouldn’t have played. He said: “I didn’t have to play, but I wanted to play and help my teammates. We did everything, we worked day and night in so I could have some time. I wanted to play (from the beginning). But sometimes you have to be content with what you can do, and that was all I could do. My feeling? I was a bit in anxiety, but I gave my all and didn’t get more than I gave. Now we have to move forward and recover well.”
