In addition to celebrating the holidays, many people also take advantage of this time of year to give back to the community. Meek Mill, Michael Rubin and the Reform Alliance team did their part by giving a group of lucky kids a shopping spree.
According to CBS Philly, more than 50 kids were picked up for a VIP shopping spree at the NBA store on Saturday, and then taken on a trip to Gillette Stadium to watch the New England Patriots play. The children involved in the special outing were children from Philadelphia, Brooklyn, Harlem and New Jersey. All have had their lives affected by the justice system.
Michael Rubin tweeted about the experience and said, “Amazing when everyone in the sport comes together for something even bigger!” I really appreciated organizing a shopping trip to @nbastore for children who have had one of their parents sent to prison for technical offenses (this means NOT committing a crime) !! “
These are the same unfair probation laws that @reform is working hard to change! The founders of the Reform Party @meekmill and Clara Wu Tsai @brooklynnets, as well as @djkhaled and @CarisLeVert did everything they could to make the day truly unforgettable !!!

Meek Mill, Michael Rubin and Clara Wu Tsai, who are all co-founders of the Reform Alliance, started the incredible experience at the NBA Store in Manhattan, where they were greeted by DJ Khaled and Brooklyn Nets player Caris LeVert. Later, the children were scheduled to fly the Patriots to New England for the Patriots and Bills football game.
After the shopping spree, Meek Mill went to his hometown of Philadelphia for his second annual gift of toys where more than 3,500 children were able to choose gifts.
A warm welcome from @MeekMill to dozens of children treated for the shopping spree in time for Christmas. All invited children have a parent affected by the justice system and incarceration. @ 6abc @REFORM @MichaelGRubin pic.twitter.com/GkTELhnByZ
