Meta, Facebook’s parent company, reveals plans to develop a fresh social networking platform.

Facebook’s parent company Meta has announced that it is working on a new platform social for “share text messages” in a project considered a potential competitor to Twitter.

“We are exploring a social network separate and decentralized way of sharing text messages,” the US group said in a short statement.

Since the takeover of Twitter by billionaire Elon Musk in October, the platform experienced outages, layoffs, and advertisers stopped dealing with it due to a lack of content oversight.

But so far no major alternative to Twitter has emerged, forcing world leaders, politicians, celebrities and businesses to continue communicating through the platform for lack of other options.

After reports released by news sites ‘Platformer’ and ‘Money Control’, Meta confirmed on Friday that it had started work on the new platform.

“We are exploring a social network separate and decentralized way of sharing text messages,” the US group said in a short statement.

The accounts of media they said that the new “Meta” application will use technology that is interoperable with the “Mastodon” network and other platforms.

This would be a clear departure from the usual practice for the tech giants, with platforms like Instagram and YouTube continuing to operate using the company’s servers under strict rules.

Mastodon operates using decentralized processing servers without any central administration or responsible authority.

In December, Musk briefly banned Twitter accounts that provided links to other platforms social including Facebook, Instagram and Mastodon.
